Luis Ramirez de Lucena (1465-1530) a Spanish clergyman and chess player in Salamanca, mentioned in his book Repetición de amores y arte de ajedrez (Repetition of Love and the Art of Playing Chess), published in 1497 - some years later when Columbus discovered America, the new ability of queen and bishops. This made the queen the most powerful piece on the board.
